Pumpkin Patch

My parents came into town this weekend so we decided to take Lexi to the Flower Mound Pumpkin Village.  It was so crowded but totally worth it.  Our little pumpkin was sleepy after her car ride, but we did get some pictures of her at 3 weeks old in the "My First Pumpkin Patch" pumpkin.  After that we had lunch with Mimi and Grandpa in Highland Village.  What a wonderful fall weekend with family!

Playdate with BFF Mason

When my mom was still in town, we had the pleasure of watching my friend Deanna's adorable son Mason while she had a little "mommy" massage.  Mason and Lexi are so cute together.  Right now, we really just lay them next to each other and pretend they are playing.  I can't wait until they really can interact in a year or so!  We had storytime, sang some silly songs and then the little ones needed a nap.  I know Lexi loves Mason...look at how she stares at him :)

Here are Lexi and Mason the day she was born.  We didn't even pose them like this...she just cuddled right up next to him!

Alexis is 3 Weeks Old

Lexi is officially 3 weeks old, as of yesterday.  We had fun taking some pictures using our new fancy Nikon camera and I couldn't wait to share.  I know everyone thinks their baby is the cutest, but how can you not want to kiss those sweet little cheeks.
Here are some of new things Miss Alexis is doing this week:
  • Alexis has started staring at us when we talk, so Nick and I are having a ball carrying on conversations with her while she gazes at us with those big blue eyes.  I watch those eyes everyday to see if I notice any color change.  I know it will be a while until we know her true hair and eye color, but right now the dark brown hair and blue eyes are beautiful.
  • She is also exploring the many tonal ranges of her tiny little voice right now.  She is starting to make different sounds to communicate with us or when she is laying down having playtime.
  • Lexi is trying so hard to hold up her head.  She has tried to use those neck muscles since she was only days out of the womb.  She is not a huge fan of tummy time, but is already trying to push herself up.
  • She wore her first 0-3 month onesie this week.  Granted, it was still too long, but we pulled a pair of pants on over it and it worked.  At over 6 1/2 pounds, hopefully soon she will be the 8 pounds that are needed to fit into this size clothing.
  • Lexi LOVES reading time already (she takes after her mama with that).  I know it sounds silly, but everytime Nick and I have storytime with her, she stares at the pages of the book.  This week we changed out her books in her book basket to include a few new books from Aunt Margaret and Uncle Bobby and Hillary and sweet Landry.  She loves Five Little Pumpkins and Pretty Princesses!
Speaking of pretty princesses, here are the pics from our 3 weeks "photo shoot".

I call this the "superwoman" pose.  She does this a lot when she stretches.

Pictures in the Hospital

There was a photographer that came into the room at the hospital.  The pictures were so cute we couldn't turn them down.  Here is our little darling during her first days of life!

Alexis Taylor Mauldin has arrived

On September 28th, we were blessed with the addition of a beautiful baby girl to our family.  Alexis Taylor Mauldin was born at 8:02 in the morning, weighing 6 pounds 4 ounces and measuring 20 inches long.  She was born via c-section at Medical Center of Lewisville.  I am doing great.  The surgery and recovery process have been easier than I anticipated and I am up and able to do most everything with the baby.  My mom is in town for a few weeks to help out and she helps with housework, driving and carrying the baby's car seat in and out of places.  I can't wait until I can do it myself, but for now I'm grateful for what I am able to do, which is MUCH more than I anticipated!

I can't believe how much JOY I feel when I look at this little girl.  She has captured Nick and I's heart from the instant we looked into her sweet eyes for the first time.  Plus, I don't think I have ever been more in love with my husband than when I watch him with Lexi.  He is such an amazing, natural father and wants to do EVERYTHING he possibly can with her.  He helps with feedings (as much as he can at this point), plays with her, sings to her, rocks her, changes her, dresses her up, as well as helps me around the house with anything I need.  What an amazing man I married!  We were singing her lullabies last night and got to "You Are My Sunshine" on our lullaby CD.  We both got misty eyed and could hardly get the words to the song out, because she truly is our little sunshine!  We can't stop kissing and loving on her and think everything she does is the most amazing thing ever (I think the 500+ pictures we've taken in the first week of life prove that to be true).

Here are a few "first" photos of Lexi in the hospital. There will be many more to come in the near future.
